"Seated Male Nudes, " Pair of Bookends with Figures in Michelangelo-Esque Poses

About the Item

Rare and very fine, this set of bronze-toned bookends feature a nude male figure in repose, his arms resting on one knee, in a Renaissance setting topped with an arched cornice and pilasters to either side. The bas relief is very beautiful, and the figure is both powerful and pensive. These are rare finds. The bookends are not marked, but are clearly cast in a heavy metal and given a faux bronze finish.
