About

Fin bookends come in two sizes. Each are made, finished and polished in Sydney, Australia using sand-casted gunmetal bronze. Their weight and size can support the heftiest of editions. Fins are used in casting to strengthen shapes and help brace corners. The fin imprints the front and back of the casting, further refining the amount of material required. The gentle taper to the face and base of your bookend hints at how it’s made. Fin bookends are manufactured in small batches so slight variations will occur from piece to piece. Production marks may include slight pour ripples or surface pitting. They will arrive with a bright finish but will oxidize and darken over time to reveal a distinctive patina. Simply use a metal polish to restore a like-new finish. Dimensions small: mm. 60 x 80 x 130 H Also available in large 75 x 117 x 156 H Henry Wilson's work combines a rational, democratic utility with an element of sculptural expression. There is a clear form and function in our products, but it’s important they also have feeling. We are interested in the awkward beauty that comes from something made by hand. We like to explore how imperfection can be introduced into an Industrial process, to make something at scale that retains a sense of individual charm. Permanent collections and exhibitions - Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences, Sydney, Australia - Art Gallery of Western Australia, Perth, Australia - 'Sempering' XXI Triennale, MUDEC, 2016, Milan, Italy.

About the Maker

Galerie Philia Furniture

Galerie Philia is a recognized contemporary design and modern fine arts gallery representing world wide known designers and artists. The Galerie Philia exhibits a collection resulting from a rhizomatic research transcending formal, stylistic, national or historical barriers. The selected art works emanates from different cultures and periods, are incarnated in various and multiform mediums, and evoke multiple and changing interior worlds. The only criterion unifying this composite plurality is their esthetical qualities and the sense they convey. The Galerie Philia attempts in this way to build bridges between different artistic continents in order to enlighten art works endowed with a marked artistic depth.
