19th Century Articulated Automaton Doll

About the Item

19th century articulated automaton doll We are proud to offer a highly collectable and rare example of a late - 19th century English Folk Art, fully articulated hand carved wooden automaton doll figure. In the form of a small boy, this doll would have accompanied several similar figures that would have been part of an animated automaton display. With a support hole in its base, this item it would have been attached to a metal pole of sorts that would have moved up and down to animate the figure. Size in inches: H 8” x W 3” x D 2” Period: Late 19th century Material: Wood Origin: England Condition: Fair Completely solid in structure and form, please expect age related wear across all this item as the images aim to illustrate. For its age, this item is in exceptional condition and clean. With a light patination of the wood and loss of paint, this item has been waxed to protect the surface and does not stand alone. Its exceedingly difficult to photograph all the areas in this piece, therefore we strongly suggest reviewing all the photos provided as part of this advert and propose questions where sections are unclear to avoid disappointment.
