That Lucky Old Sun, Fine Art Boxed Set by Brian Wilson and Sir Peter Blake

$1,185.73per item

About

That Lucky Old Sun is a limited edition boxed set which consists; a handmade book, CD, facsimile music sheets, lyrics and a set of 12 original fine art prints signed by Brian Wilson and Sir Peter Blake. The fine art boxed set was inspired by the music of Wilson's album, That Lucky Old Sun, a moving tribute to Southern California and a celebration of Brian’s life and career. Brian Wilson: 'It's all about capturing the mood of Southern California and the mood of LA in the 1950s and 1960s. The Artwork Peter Blake's collages are produced as numbered, Fine art serigraphs. His original prints are hand screened with over 20 individual inks on to 312mm x 416mm (12.5 x 16.5 inches), 410 gsm art paper. The silk-screen process allowed Blake an exceptional degree of involvement at every stage. From his selection of inks, to affect the transparency and palette of achievable color, to his final glaze, each of Peter's serigraphs is in effect an original work, rather than a reproduction. The Authors When talking about music, leader and co-founder of The Beach Boys, Brian Wilson is quick to mention The Beatles. 'I have Sgt Pepper's in my music room', he writes in THAT LUCKY OLD SUN. 'Paul McCartney played 'She's Leaving Home' for me on the piano when he visited me in the recording studio around April 1967. It knocked me out.' That Lucky Old Sun was first performed at the Royal Festival Hall, London, in 2007. A year later it was developed in the studio. 'I wanted to put together a concept album,' Wilson explained; and the result was hailed as a 'masterpiece' by The Times of London. This latest incarnation took inspiration from Wilson's original theme: a celebration of his life set against a moving tribute to his home state. The Limited Edition The cloth-bound volume is hand-numbered to match the 12 original prints in your set. The artworks and accompanying book are presented in a handcrafted case, bound in two Italian cloths. The colors, chosen by Brian, represent the hues of Californian sky and ocean referenced in That Lucky Old Sun. Accompanying the signed book is an original laminate VIP pass, saved from the first live performances of That Lucky Old Sun. It is attached by a ribbon, as a bookmark. The edition would not be complete without one of the first CD pressings of the album, a copy of which is included in every boxed set. The collection is safely preserved within a handcrafted box, made in Italy and bound in two cloths. The box is decoratively blocked in silver and gold foils with a portrait of Brian inset on the inside cover. In design and finish That Lucky Old Sun is personally overseen and, as such, reflects the same spirit of invention for which Peter Blake and Brian Wilson are renowned. This is a perfect acquisition for anyone interested in music memorabilia, or the Californian landscape. A luxury collector's book and art set, this is a beautiful must-have for any Brian Wilson or Peter Blake fan.
