About

American Furniture 1680-1880, From the Collection of The Baltimore Museum of Art. Baltimore: Baltimore Museum of Art, 1987. First edition softcover. 183 pp. A catalogue of American furniture from The Baltimore Museum of Art. The museum acquired its first piece of furniture in 1929 when a painted chair in the Empire style was donated to the Museum from a Baltimorian living in Paris. Apparently the chairs were made for a banquet to welcome Lafayette on his visit to Baltimore in 1824. Items in the catalogue include a high chest from Boston Japanner Robert Davis (1733-1739), a Wing Chair from eastern Massachusetts (1760-1790), a dressing table from Philadelphia (1750-1785) along with many more historic regional American pieces. NPT Books a division of N.P. Trent Antiques has a large collection of used and out of print books on art, architecture, decoration and antiques with a focus on 1st editions, signed and limited editions.
