Set mostly in Venice after World War I, Hemingway’s Across the River and Into the Trees follows the end-of-life reflections of one man. Considering themes such as death, love, and the major stages of life, his novel was well-received in America. Hemingway (1899-1961) was an American author and journalist. His distinctive writing style, characterized by economy of words and dry understatement, strongly influenced 20th century fiction, as did his life of adventure and his public image. Hemingway produced most of his work between the mid-1920s and the mid-1950s, winning the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1954. Condition: Overall very good condition. The original dust jacket has been clipped at the inside corner. The dust jacket has been professionally restored and has no significant damage. Internally, this first edition novel is slightly toned from age but is stable and has no other notable damage. The book is housed in a custom built archival clamshell. The clamshell features dramatic orange morocco leather and black cloth covers with an inlaid photo of Hemingway and his gilt embossed facsimile signature.
