Two Excellent & Rare Handcrafted Solid Oak Chairs for Small Children or Dolls

About the Item

Cute and very decorative 'pair' of handcrafted chairs for small children. Antique children's chairs always bring a smile to our face and when they are in this striking condition it is hard for us to not buy them. When they are in this pristeen condition they can ofcourse be used immediately, but they also make great decorative items and people almost always want to touch them much more so than they would normal sized chairs. These children’s chairs were crafted in the 1960s, but they look perfectly antique. This is because they were made from the remains of real antique, 19th century chairs. That's why they have the same beautiful patina and also the fine hand-carved details. It is also the reason why they are perfectly stable and also why the upholstery on both these chairs is absolutely mint. Again great value for money, also, because worldwide delivery from our store to your door in just 4 days is free. Maximum height x width x depth of the red chair: 28.7 x 11.8 x 14.2 inches. Seat height: 14.2 inches. Maximum height x width x depth of the yellow chair: 30.5 x 11 x 11.4 inches. Seat height: 13.8 inches. We have a passion for the unique, for quality, for stylish yet practical and for craftsmanship of years gone by. Your purchases will be extremely well packaged and we look forward to serving you (again). Would you like to see all our 600+ listings on 1stdibs? Beautiful chair stamped and numbered, produced in the late 1950s and during the 1960s for public buildings (universities, workshops, canteens). The Galvanitas workshop was known at the time for its quality and durability: the metal was thicker than the competitors and the seat shells were produced in East Germany under high pressure thanks to a Remarkable process: the seat shell and the backrest are made from a mixture of wood and resin, known as "pagwood" with resin, to obtain a superior durability and better to resist water than a varnish. The "Galvanitas" chairs are very comfortable, flexible and strong. Beautiful Silhouette, pretty hue, clean lines and textured seating...
