About the Item

This cushion is a one-of-a-kind and part of a sustainability project. It has been created from an up-cycled, recycled luxury fabric, used with the intentions of promoting a more eco-friendly environment by using already existing materials. We both celebrate and cherish the past and take care with rare and precious vintage and antique materials. Through layers of carefully added backing the delicate fabric has been fortified for longevity and thus preserved. (the original designer/brand has been fully credited below) Custom-made one-of-a-kind cushion (pillow) created from a stunning vintage Valentino fashion scarf in an elegant classical design. This silk is an elaborate picture consisting of tassels, rope, belts and buckles, bridal elements and hardware, a riding whip giving a definite nod to equestrian style and a brass C18 English style hunting Horn featured in the center. Reminiscent of Rococo interiors with stucco plaster work moulding wall ornamentation which decorated the large halls of the period and often depicted musical instruments. Exquisitely detailed and with symmetry pleasing to the eye this flamboyant bijou accessory exudes romance and luxury. Italian designer Valentino Clemente Ludovico Garavani, best known as Valentino, is known for his fine haute couture creations. Valentino couture is the ultimate extravagance, one example being the white gown worn by Jackie Kennedy at her wedding to Greek tycoon Aristotle Onassis. Their signature look being pretty bows and intricate lace patterning infused with femininity. A rare find as Valentino scarves today are mainly found in chiffon and featuring their signature lace print. Delicate yet punchy in color, an absolute gem of a showpiece. The festive subject matter would make it a superb Christmas home accessory or gift. Backed in new 100% pure Irish linen, the aristocrat of textiles and certified by the Irish Linen Guild, lined in a layer of natural bamboo wadding, filled with new plush duck feather insert and a concealed zip. The traditional oatmeal color linen is a combination of the unbleached raw color of the natural flax plant on the weft intertwined with pristine white on the warp, resulting in a beautiful mottled effect. With the original Valentino label sewn discreetly on the back. A contemporary cushion (pillow) constructed with antique elements by using fragments of precious fabric.
