Established in 1934 the garden was originally the site of a community dump, but now is 55 acres of landscaped and wooded areas with five miles of walks and pathways that attract some 350,00 people each year. The garden includes its classical Terraces, Blomquist Garden of Natural Plants, and the Culberson Asiatic Arboretum.
