Kenneth Patchen Artist Book with Original Painting

About the Item

Panels for the Walls of Heaven, a square octavo volume of poems, abstract illustrations (based on paintings by the author) and outre typography, by experimental poet and artist Kenneth Patchen, published by Bern Porter and the Gillick Press in 1946. 67 pages, in original cloth-backed binder's boards with an original painting by the author on the cover, and limitation data, also hand-painted by the author, on the back. Naked spine with name label, hand-tinted along with the top edge. Limited, signed edition, number 54 of 150, with "no two covers alike" according to Patchen on the rear pastedown. With its original taped-down acetate jacket, now missing a few sections on the front.

    Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Good overall condition. Minor rubbing to boards. Minor foxing and tape shadow to the free endpapers. Label on the spine loose at the top edge. Some staining to lower edge at corner.
