19th Century C. M. Hutschenreuther Hand-Painted Porcelain Plaque "Ruth"
About the Item
This 19th century hand-painted oval plaque was made in Hohenberg, Bavaria by porcelain manufactory C. M. Hutschenreuther. The plaque has a convex form and features a hand-painted image of Ruth the Gleaner after the original by French painter Charles Landelle (1821-1908). The piece is illegibly signed at the lower right and has been housed within an ornate carved and gilded Rococo style easel-backed frame with a foliate motif.
The plaque itself measures 3.25" by 2.625" and bears the impressed Hutschenreuther CMHR mark in a circle to the verso which was used between 1857 and 1899 along with the number 15 and faintly stamped word "Germany". It also retains an old paper label bearing the hand written title of the piece.
This well executed hand-painted porcelain plaque displays beautifully and is nicely sized for display on a table, desk or shelf. A nice addition to a collection of miniatures or a great Stand alone decorative accent.

- 19th Century Minton’s Art Pottery Studio Kensington Gore Hand-Painted ChargerBy MintonLocated in Cincinnati, OHThis large hand-painted charger was made by Mintons Art Pottery Studio of Kensington Gore, London. The studio traces its origins to the renowned earthenware and fine bone china factory Minton, located in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire England. Colin Minton Campbell, descendant of founder Thomas Minton, took over company management in 1858 and went on to establish Mintons Art Pottery Studio in 1871 for the purpose of hand decorating pottery and tiles. The studio initially operated under the direction of painter and book illustrator William Stephen Coleman and drew upon the talents of artists studying at the Kensington's National Art Training School, now known as the Royal College of Art, as well as those of well-regarded Continental artists. The company was short lived as it was destroyed by an accidental fire in 1875 and was not rebuilt. This large earthenware charger has been hand-painted in polychrome enamel and depicts two young children at play in the nursery. The scene includes multiple colors and textures and features a cherubic toddler seated upon a bed alongside a young girl standing on a blue footstool...Category

The delightful image is set within an elegantly appointed salon and depicts an artist seated in front of a gilt-framed canvas that bears a partially completed portrait of a baby. The painter is surrounded by an entourage of sumptuously attired women who are attempting to capture the baby's attention and direct it toward the artist. The lid opens with a tapering tab at the front. The child's nurse holds her charge upright on a table that is covered by an ornate embroidered cloth trimmed in fringe. A lady dressed in purple stands next to her and leans toward the child in an attempt to cajole the baby into cooperating with the task at hand. The artist is seated opposite the child on an upholstered bench and holds his paintbrush in his right hand while simultaneously pointing up to a cluster of fruit. The fruit cluster is dangled by a lady dressed in a patterned yellow gown who wears a bemused expression on her face as she attempts to focus the baby's attention.
