French 1970s Stainless & Brass Octagonal Mirror After Maria Pergay

About the Item

Look closely because if ever there was a sleeper it is this stunningly chic 1970's octagonal wall mirror framed with three bench worked bands of sheet brushed stainless steel and and sheet brass, skillfully cut, bent, hand shaped and joined with barely perceptible seams. This is clearly the handwork of a skilled artisan such as Maria Pergay. Right click/Open in New Tab each image for maximum resolution and inspect closely the construction and finish which clearly indicate this is not a production piece. The design is somewhat similar to mirrors by Sandro Petti and Michel Pigneres for L'AngoloMetallArte of Rome but this is distinctively more artisanal. Recreating this work today would be near impossible and to get close would cost well into five figures.
