Very Fine Gustavian Period Giltwood Pier Mirror, Swedish, Circa 1800

About the Item

The very fine water-gilded frame showing an architectural cornice above a rectangular frieze decorated with burnished relief moulded neoclassical motifs, surmounting a very old rectangular plate flanked top and bottom and both sides by narrow vertical mirrored panels. It should be noted that due to the significant age of this item, the reflective nature of the plate lends itself more towards a cosmetic element. Although replacing the plate is certainly an option and won't affect its intrinsic value to any real extent, it does however exude a great deal of old world elegance and atmosphere.
