About
A rare opportunity to buy a 1930s Draughtsman’s task lamp 'The Anglepoise' first generation model 1209. Designed by George Carwardine in 1933 and manufactured by Herbert Terry & Sons, ‘The Anglepoise’ revolutionized task lighting in commercial applications and very soon after in the home.
This large lamp (120cm extended), works exactly as it should do, with fingertip control, it has deliberately been left in original paint and has been gently cleaned and the pivots lubricated. It has been rewired using three core braided flex - earthed at the main pivot on the base - with a period bakelite switch.
