Louis XV Style Bronze Bouillotte Lamp with Tole Shade, France, 19th Century
About the Item
This bouillotte lamp was created in the 19th century in the style of Louis XV with its undulating acanthus leaves and evokes the beauty and charm of the romantic French style. The piece originally used candles ( retains its removable bobeches) and was converted to an electric lamp in the 1920s and has recently been completely rewired. The silk/rayon cord has a line switch for ease of use. The triple-socket gives plenty of light which is diffused by an adjustable, hand-painted tole-shade.
