Fine Grand Tour Style Bronze of Mercury Mounted as a Table Lamp, Circa 1900

About the Item

The large & finely proportioned cast bronze figure of Mercury - Roman god of abundance & commercial success, shown standing atop the mouth of Aeolus - Ruler of the Four Winds, while cradling a caduceus in one hand - the other arm outstretched towards the heavens. Exhibiting fine proportions and a fine black / green patina overall, raised upon a verde-antico marble socle base. Height to top of socket, 25”. Please note the commercial shade has minor issues and is used for display purposes only.
