Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. It has its original wiring & socket and no outstanding flaws that we have detected. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, 1970’s. NOTE: The globe just sits on the top of the base so needs to be in a place where it is secure. Are you feeling a little “in the mood?” Well, get ready because you’re about to be in “Many Moods!” LOL… This is a STUNNING cylindrical green ceramic table lamp with a white glass globe designed by Lawrence Peabody for his Many Moods Collection for Sears & Roebuck. It was a collection designed to bring different period styles together in the same room including pieces such as furniture, rugs, draperies, ashtrays, and lamps. Each piece designed to let you mix patterns and colors in fresh new ways and but retained their individual character with the ability for each piece to stand on its own, blend beautifully with other compatible pieces, or as lovely additions to the furnishings you already had. These fabulous lamps were available in over thirty hot or cool colors and this gorgeous #941 avocado leaf green color glazed pottery base puts me in a spectacular mood!! Some lamps came with shades while others like this one came with a marvelous milk or white glass round globe. It will look fabulous in ANY room of your home and it’s bursting with mid-century modern magnificence! Whether you are in a bad mood, sad mood, happy mood, or in the mood for a snuggle with your sweetie… This Many Moods Collection table lamp bares just the right ambience to elevate ALL our moods!! Lawrence Peabody was born in Haverhill, Massachusetts in 1924. He trained at the Rhode Island School of Design, and he earned a Bachelor of Art degree in 1950 then went on to study at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, Denmark. In 1955 he started his own design firm called Lawrence Peabody and Associates in Boston, Massachusetts where his clients included Richardson Brothers, Kohler, Sears & Roebuck, and Boyd Lighting. He assisted in designing several hotels in the United States and the Caribbean. He purchased a home in Haiti in the 1960’s where he and his family would live for six months out of the year. It is where he befriended DeWitt Peters, the founder of Le Centre D'Art, which helped promote interest in Haitian art & craft giving opportunity to hundreds of local artists, many of whom were once impoverished. Mr. Peabody served as Director of Le Centre D’Art. He incorporated Haitian art in his designs and helped bring a collection of one-of-a-kind furniture made by Haitian craftsmen to the United States. This is a stunning vintage large scale model V-1318 table lamp with a white frosted FABULOUS Italian glass egg-shaped sculptured globe by The Laurel Lamp Company! It is hand blown and elegant… stripped down to a simple, bare form with a metal base. When unlit the globe has a lovely, soft white frosted presence and when lit it gives off a warm amber glow almost as calming as the perfect evening sunset. This lamp is definitely what you need to set up just the right ambience to set the mood for that romantic dinner or to simply give a comforting, peaceful glow to your surroundings. It will be beautiful on a sofa or console table in your living room, on an accent table in your bedroom, or in any room that needs a welcoming, wonderful display of mid-century modern egg-straordinary presentation. Laurel Lamp Company was founded by Max and Harold Weiss in Newark NJ and was active from 1946 until 1981. President Harold Weiss introduced the company to Murano Italian glass in 1971 and an overseas alliance was formed. They collaborated with many famed designers including Richard Barr and Pierre Cardin. By 1979 Laurel had showrooms in New York City, San Francisco, Chicago, Dallas, North Carolina, and Los Angeles. Mr. Weiss was the driving force behind the success of Laurel Lamp’s iconic designs. He passed away in 2014. There is limited information on the company however, there is a Laurel Lamp Foundation non-profit organization website, and their fixtures and lamps are sought after still today.
