A tall vintage Mid-Century Modern American table lamp made of Lucite and metal. Designed by Hivo Van Teal and produced by Karl Springer. Featuring a one light socket, in good condition. The wires have been renewed. Wear consistent with age and use, circa 1960, United States.

Shade: 8.75" H x 14" W x 14" D
Hivo G. Van Teal was a Cuban architect born in Havana, Cuba and passed away in the United States. As a young man, Teal migrated from Cuba to start a new life in the Miami. He started working in Coral Gables, Florida, as a taxi driver and later on, as a house painter. Soon later, Teal developed a passion in creating, designing sculptures shaped of acrylic. In 1974, he opened his first showroom in Miami Beach, two years after, Teal opened a second store in High Point Market, North Carolina. Until now, the Van Teal Lighting company is family owned.
Karl Springer was a German designer and producer born in 1931 Berlin, Germany and passed away in 1991. Karl lived most of his life in New York City. He worked for Lord & Taylor where he developed his own method covering items with leather. His popularity gave him the ability to sell to well-known individuals.
