Beautiful flush mount chandelier by Pala, 1970s. Gilded brass and crystal glass. Very dood condition. No cracks or damages on the glasses. The chandelier need 6 x bulbs with an E27 socket. Maximum 40 watts per bulb or LED. Palme & Walter KG. Gross-Umstadt (Hessen), Germany Traditional craftsmanship since the early 18th century still distinguishes the outstanding crystal chandeliers of the company PALWA today. Whether in the very traditional style, which already distinguished the lamps in the castles and mansions of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, or in the very modern form with rows of crystal rods, the chandeliers from PALWA are always of convincing quality. The company own "Lusterbauer", also known as "Gürtler", traditionally manufacture by hand the supporting framework of the crystal crown made from brass. The cut and polished glass forms, called prisms, let the incident light of the electric light bulbs shine in all its rainbow colours. Since the early 1950s, the "Glashütte Hessenglas-GmbH" in Oberursel, northeast of Frankfurt/Main, has been ensuring the highest quality of the raw rod glass required for cutting. Crystal palmettes adorn the crown rings of the mostly baroque style chandeliers and wear the crystal hangings of the traditionally shaped prisms or the modern rod rows. These new style forms for modern customer requirements are characterized by their round arrangement of the glass-rods and head mirror lamps let them shine in extraordinary light. The originally Bohemian company was founded in 1724 by Josef Pallme-Mahl, who for the first time built traditional candlesticks in glass. Expelled from Steinschönau in the Sudetenland, the Palme and Walter families settled south of Frankfurt/Main and pursued their great craftsmanship from there. The initially modest company in Groß-Umstadt grew rapidly and already had over 200 employees at the beginning of the 60s, many of whom had followed the entrepreneurial families. Both the production for traditional taste, e.g. for churches, and modern spirit of the time led to national and international orders. Until today PALWA has its headquarters with production and distribution in the South of Hessia.
