Aldo van den Nieuwelaar Floor Lamp Model A251 for Artimeta, Dutch Design 1972

About the Item

Opaline glass shade on a metal foot by Dutch designer Aldo van den Nieuwelaar. Aldo van den Nieuwelaar, born 1944, was a Dutch designer and architect. As a designer he was inspired by Gerrit Rietveld, de Stijl and Bauhaus. This is clearly visible in his minimal and geometric designs. In his career he created furniture, carpets and was responsible for the design of the Dutch subway station "Waterlooplein" in Amsterdam. However, he gathered most recognition with his famous lighting designs. Some of his lamps are very popular and widely sought after Dutch midcentury design classics. The floor lamp we present here is one of his classic designs. This light, model A251 was part of a series consisting of three models: two table (A250 and A252) and a floor lamp. They were produced by Artimeta the Netherlands in 1972. Our floor lamp is an original model from this year and an extremely rare piece. Not many were made and we have never seen one for sale before. A unique and rare piece of Dutch design. In good condition. Lamp is suitable for 220v. But because of the lower voltage in the USA and some other countries it can be used in those countries without replacing the lamp socket. With some lamps we can replace the lamp socket to country standards. Please ask us for the possibilities. If the lamp, for example a floor, table or desk light, has a different power plug, it would have to be replaced by correct country standards. Otherwise a travel adapter could be used. Measurements: Height 128 cm / 50.4 in Diameter 30 cm / 11.8 in.
