About the Item
'Sputnik' chandelier, brass and glass, Austria, 1960s.
The brass sputnik shaped frame is elegantly finished with several diamond shaped glass ornaments and faceted glass beads. The glass absorbs the light in a sophisticated way creating a wonderful, atmospheric light partition. This sputnik can be hung in an entranceway in order to make an impression or serve as a way to enlighten any interior in a fine manner. Its appearance is very characteristic for the style of Emil Stejnar for Rupert Nikoll.
