About the Item

Antique Holophane light fixture, made in France. You are looking at a beautiful, very rare and top quality Holophane pendant and chances are that you have never seen this type or size before. However, if you are looking for a completely original and mint condition Holophane light fixture then, unfortunately, this is not the one for you. This great antique definitely has the look and it is made of top quality materials that will last for centuries, but we have dropped the price way down, because it is not completely original. First of all, the bronze ring that keeps the bottom glass shade in place, is no longer there. Instead three bronze rods are inserted through the outside of the upper bronze ring, thus keeping the bottom, prismatic glass shade in place. From up close this is not aesthetically pleasing, but when looking at this marvelous pendant when hanging on your ceiling it simply still is a great sight to see (as you can see in our images). There also is a minor crack close to the top of the upper, thick glass shade (see image 14). You will not be able to see this when this pendant is on your ceiling, but we have to mention it. Finally, there may have been a brass or bronze knob decorating the circular opening in the bottom of the lower shade. To make a long story short, the top quality bronze gallery and bronze chain with the brass canopy atop combined with the stunning prismatic glass make this antique and industrial design Holophane pendant an absolute joy to own and look at (both on and off). However, because this pendant is no longer original (as described above) and because there are signs of wear (consistent with age and use), we have dropped the price down to about one third of what this stunning Holophane pendant would be worth had it been completely original and intact. This large and impressive Holophane pendant is rewired for safe and immediate use in the USA as well and it is great value for money. Also, because perfect packing & worldwide delivery from our store to your door in just 4 days are complimentary. Maximum height x diameter as in our photos: 35.4 x 15 inches. This heavy quality pendant weighs about 9 kilogram or 20 pounds lbs. Mind you, we have 8.3 inches more of the original bronze chain if you need to lower the drop even more and we can also shorten the drop by about 8 inches by removing some of the removable bronze shackles in the chain.
