  • J.T. Kalmar 'Ice Glass' Chandelier, 1960s, Middel Size with Six Lamp Sockets
    By J.T. Kalmar
    Located in Hamburg, DE
J.T. Kalmar 'Ice Glass' Chandelier, 1960s. Middel size with six lamp sockets This chandelier from the 1960s by the Austrian designer J.T. Kalmar apparently more than deserves the name Ice Glass. The glass icicles lined up together form the lampshade of the chandelier and look amazingly similar to a real ice sculpture. When switched on and flooded with light, the ice glass casts beautiful shadow patterns on the surrounding walls and creates a cosy warmth in the room despite the icy sight. J.T. Kalmar lived and worked in Austria and gained extensive design experience at an early age in his father's company, which specialized in candlesticks and other objects cast in bronze and which Kalmar later took over himself. In the course of his career Kalmar designed lighting for many renowned architects as well as for important institutions such as the Vienna Opera...
