Folk Metalcut Horse Weathervane, c. 1900

About the Item

With a simple Silhouette and rich surface texture, this early 20th century metal-cut weathervane is a charming example of American Folk Art. Adding a decorative touch to the topmost point of a building, weathervanes were an opportunity to tell a story and reassert a Community's values. This rustic weathervane is in the form of a simple feathered arrow, topped by a proud steed charging in the direction of the wind.
