Woman & Hacienda Owner Farmer Mexican Folk Art 1950s Replica Izucar Matamoros

$350per set

About

These colorful Folk Art statues are pieces inspired by the collection by Catalina Orta Uroza de Castillo in the 1950s-- displayed in the Museum of International Folk Art in New Mexico. Made in Izucar de Matamoros by her daughter in law, Soledad Martha de Castillo portrays the farmer/ hacienda owner of the time together with his wife. Soledad tries to resemble the painting using similar color tones used during that time, which were done with natural ingredients from the region of Puebla.

About The Maker

At ATENTICA we seek out quietly successful artisans, designers, and artists mainly in Mexico. Here you can discover great artwork from isolated towns and places who have kept their traditions while innovating to bring the best techniques with a modern approach. At ATENTICA we are currently focusing on our second generation of artists, seeking techniques that are in danger of being lost due to the lack of artists and artisans who still practice them.
