About the Item

Early 20th century Folk Art scratch built ship (Sultan) We are proud to offer an amazing example of an English Folk Art scratch-built model ship. This example shows some wonderful detail and huge amount of craftsmanship and patience. This example is made from metal, wood and found objects of mixed materials. The ship is filled with many lifelike details as you may expect, these include a fully articulated canon and gun setup both on the sides of the ship but also upon deck. Lead figures which are hand painted with detail, Vast amount or handcrafted lifeboats made from sectioned wood with painted detail. All the masts are individually sectioned and lined with ropes and nets including a detailed Crow’s next. The detail across this item is quite amazing and there is to much detail to mention, even the photos don’t show all the hidden detail underneath the ship’s hull. There are also 2 working motor sections underneath the hull which are untouched, sections of the ship can be removed to reveal more detail. Overall this is an amazing example with tons of character and detail, a decorative centrepiece for sure and one-off example. Size in inches approx.- H 28” x W 48” x D 15” Condition: Despite this items age, its is solid in structure and form, wear across the surface is present due to age in the form of light fading, missing surface paint, rusty metal section, aged look of surface and objects across it in parts across this item (this isn’t a new item so please expect there to be visual age as shown in the photos provided).
