About the Item
Early 20th Century Carved Wooden Miniature Pequot Ship's Figurehead Model, circa 1920s, a wonderful folk art carving of a Pequot-Mohican Indian in the form of a ship's figurehead: this is in fact the figurehead of the Whale Ship PEQUOD in Melville's "Moby Dick." The finely done carving includes great detail such as the Tomahawk and Peace Pipe tucked into his belt.
The carving shows the weathering and nicks of age, and has a very warm surface and deep patina.
Measures: 19-3/4 in H x 3-1/2 in W x 4-1/4 in Deep.
