About

A wonderful Folk Art polychrome dome-top or tombstone wooden framed beveled mirror with applied snow covered tree crest and fourteen applied wooden angels, hand painted by well known Cape Cod Folk Art artist Peter Hunt (1896-1967). Hunt became a fixture in Provincetown, Massachusetts as a folk artist and furniture director at his collection of shops known as Peasant Village, active from the 30’s to the late 1950s. This mirror has retained its original beveled glass and is in very good overall condition, with great patina, a few minor angel decoration repairs, light soiling, restorations, and expected wear from age and use. Although, probably created to celebrate Christmas and the winter season, this mirror could be used year round as a cottage decoration or a great addition to your Folk Art collection! Provenance: Originally purchased from Peter Hunt in the 1950s from a collector in Cincinnati, OH. Dimensions: 57 in H x 27 in W x 2 in D.
