Art Studio Pop Brutalist Fantasy Figure Signed Ceramic Sculpture Capron Style
About the Item
This is a unique large brutalist ceramic sculpture Art Studio Pop Surrealist fantasy figure, in the style of Jean-Paul Bonnet who was a close collaborator with Roger Capron and his wife Jacotte for forty six years.
The figure, as rendered, has a playfulness and whimsicality like what can be found in Picasso's or Capron's later work.
Truly a one of a kind ceramic sculpture, wood fired and painted stoneware, surrealist fantasy utopia masterpiece incorporating a painstaking process of extensive cutting, sculpting, sanding, and detailing.
Ceramic sculpture with a neutral palette ranging between rich dark browns to off-whites constructed combining three different colored clay bodies.
Signed on verso, as pictured.
Good vintage condition, missing some hair.
