Vardo Wagon Panels, circa 1880

About the Item

Carved wooden gypsy vardo wagon panels, circa 1880 This lot is a very rare and unique set of 6 hand carved wooden gypsy Vardo travelling wagon panel strips. The wooden panels would have been used to provide an ornate and highly decorative look to the outside of the wagon. These items are all hand carved from wood and are all individual in design and carving, they have remanence of old layered paint which show maroon, green and gold. The wood shows signs of age through wear and tear as illustrated in the photos provided, however all 6 pieces are firm and very secure structurally. These items are very rare as sets in this condition hardly come to market, and now rather collectable and historic these items could easily be re-used to decorative an interior, create both mirror or picture frames. These items are highly collectable and very unique. Condition: These items are antique so expect wear and tear, thee paint has faded and been reapplied over the years of use, the edges of the panels are worn due to age and some are damaged showing cracks and mixing wood (this has been shown in the pictures supplied) Its strongly suggested to view all the photos we have supplied and ask questions before a purchase is made to avoid any disappointment. Overall Size: L 45” x W 2.5” D x 1”.
