Pair Porcelain Tureens Antique English Made circa 1840

About the Item

We are pleased to offer this pair of English porcelain tureens painted with a striking chinoiserie decoration. They were made by Copeland Spode circa 1840. The decoration on these tureens is a combination of medallions, flowers and auspicious objects. The unexpected colors in the pattern are orange, brown, and green. Together they create an exotic look. For Europeans in the 18th and 19th centuries China was a distant and unknown land, a place of mystery. The inside of each tureen is also painted with a medallion (see image # 7). This pair of tureens would look great on any dining room sideboard or rectangular table. Dimensions: 9.25 inches diameter x 7.25 inches tall Condition: Excellent Price: $800
