About the Item

A beautiful and rare Midcentury Modern set for eight (8) orange (or persimmon) and gold ceramic dining set by American designer Dorothy C. Thorpe, circa mid-20th century, 1960s. Set for eight comes complete with 8 plates, 8 cups, and 8 saucers; an excellent choice to enjoy coffee, tea, breakfast, lunch or dessert. Orange or persimmon hue on ceramic is matte/unglazed. Plates, cups, and saucers have a beautiful gold detail, interior of cups are all gold. The orange/persimmon and gold make a striking combination. All pieces are marked on bottom 'Dorothy C. Thorpe', 'California'. Measurements include: Plate: 7.63" diameter Cup: 4" diameter x 2.25" H Saucer: 6" diameter Set is 24 pieces in total.
