About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George V English sterling silver café au lait set made in the Arts & Crafts style; an addition to our collectable teaware collection. This exceptional antique George V sterling silver cafe au lait set consists of a coffee pot, hot milk jug and sugar bowl, all crafted in the Arts & Crafts style. The coffee pot and hot milk jug have a cylindrical rounded form and the sugar bowl has a plain circular rounded form. The surface of each piece is plain and has a planished finish in the Arts & Crafts style. The coffee pot and milk jug are fitted with the original hallmarked hinged covers surmounted with the original carved wood finials. The milk jug and coffee pot retain the original carved wood angular handles with plain sterling silver sockets. Each piece has an impressive cylindrical support embellished with applied iconic Arts & Crafts style square tiered motifs. The pieces of this exceptional service were crafted and signed by the renowned London silversmith Charles Boyton. Condition This antique sterling silver café au lait set is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The interior of the each piece has been professionally cleaned and is ready for use. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each piece and part hallmarks to the covers are all very clear.     An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George V English sterling silver cafe au lait set in the George II style; an addition to our collectable teaware collection. This exceptional antique George V sterling silver cafe au lait set consists of a coffee pot and hot milk jug. Each piece of this cafe au lait set has a plain baluster shaped form to three feet, all in the early George II style. The surface of each piece is plain and unembellished, accented with an applied moulded border to the upper rim. Each piece is fitted with the original hallmarked domed hinged cover surmounted by an impressive cast silver pineapple finial; each cover retains the original hallmarked, detachable hinge pin. Both the milk jug and coffee pot retains the original opposing scroll carved wood handle, fitted to cast and applied scrolling sockets. The coffee pot features an exceptional cast silver swan necked spout ornamented with an undulating socket, the sparrow beak spout to the milk jug is ornamented with a decorative leaf formation to the nadir. Each piece is supported by three impressive cast sterling silver feet ornamented with a scrolling foot to a shell design in junction with the body. Condition This antique sterling silver cafe au lait set is a superior gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The interior of the each piece has been professionally cleaned and is ready for use. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each piece and part hallmarks to the sleeve of each cover, in addition to the hinge pins, are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the superior gauge of silver. The coffee jug and hot milk jug have a plain hexagonal baluster shaped form onto a paneled spreading foot. The surface of each piece is embellished with a contemporary bright cut engraved crest depicting a demi-lion holding an axe. Each piece is fitted with the original hallmarked hinged cover surmounted with an impressive sterling silver paneled finial.
