Very Fine Set of Four Georgian Silver Table Candlesticks, London, 1753
$24,911.41

About
An extremely fine set of cast silver George II table candlesticks of hexagonal form with shell corners. The fluted pedestal column rising to a further fluted knop below a cotton reel capital with rope twist decoration. Conforming sconces. Each stick is also marked underneath with the original scratch weight in troy ounces.
All four sticks identically marked to the underside for London 1753 by William Grundy. Each of the capitals also marked with the maker’s mark and the lion passant. Similarly the sconces are also part marked.
This is a particularly fine set of table candlesticks in an unusual pattern of extremely good weight and all in first class original condition. The marks are all clear to the underside. There is a crest to each of the sconces but is worn as are some of the marks to both capitals and sconces. A truly superb set. Wonderful colour and patina.
Measures: Height 9.75 inches or 25cm
Weight: 2887 g or 102 oz or 93 ounces troy.
