The reverse surface of each bowl is embellished with cloisonné floral and scrolling leaf designs on black enamel background, accented with various unusual tones of polychrome enamel highlighting the bead, spindle and tear drop ornamentation. The enamel segments are encompassed with applied silver gilt paralleling rope twist ornamentation. The posterior surface of each handle incorporates a lobed knop to the shoulders.
