A pair of George III cast silver candlesticks, each with shaped hex foil, stepped and fluted bases rising to a knopped and fluted stem topped with a cotton-reel capitals and matched sconces. Both candlesticks are clearly hallmarked for the renowned silversmith William Cafe, London, 1763. Both cotton reel capitals are marked with the lion passant and maker's mark. The sconces are also marked with the lion passant and one with a partial maker's mark. (rubbed). Each candlestick is also numbered underneath, 1 & 2 accordingly, long with the scratch weight. These candlesticks are in very fine condition, and stand true on a flat surface. William Cafe was a specialist candlestick maker and these are fine examples of his work. Measures: Width of base (at widest point) 14cm or 5 1/2 inches Height 26cm or 10 1/4 inches Candlestick 1 weight: 564g or 18.13 oz Troy or 19.9oz Candlestick 2 weight: 561g or 18.03 oz Troy or 19.8oz Combined weight: 1125g or 36.16oz Troy or 39.7oz Sensible offers will be considered.
