Lalique Peugeot and Lalique Feuilles Salt and Pepper Grinders, Set of Two

About the Item

In 1840, Peugeot launched the first coffee grinder, and eventually salt and pepper grinders. Peugeot grinding mechanisms carry a lifetime warranty. It was not before 1886 that Peugeot started the production of bicycles, motorcycles and cars, sectors for which they are the most famous today. Lalique and Peugeot collaborated again to develop the Feuilles pepper grinder René Lalique originally created in 1924.

  • Lalique Pivoines Bowl Clear Crystal
    By René Lalique, Lalique
    Located in New York, NY
Alliance of brute strength and delicacy, juxtaposition of squared shape to the curved lines of the sculpted motifs, the Pivoines bowl embodies a contrast of mineral strength and floral romanticism. Symbol of prosperity, beauty and honour, the peony is an emblematic flower, especially in China where it is often depicted. As if carved in the gouge of a rock garlands of flowers take possession of crystal, like luxuriant nature takes its rightful place over abandoned constructions. Their modelling also evokes the process of Lost Wax sculpture...
