Victorian Sterling Silver and Chalcedony Pin Cushion by Adie & Lovekin Ltd

US$1,999.29

About

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian sterling silver pin cushion modelled in the form of a shoe made by Adie & Lovekin Ltd; an addition to our animal related silverware collection. This exceptional antique sterling silver pin cushion has been realistically modelled in the form of a heeled shoe. The surface of this Victorian silver pin cushion is embellished with impressive bright cut engraved scrolling leaf decoration accented with undulating borders. The toe of the shoe is further ornamented with six shaped, geometrically arranged chalcedony hardstones. The upper portion of the shoe features the velvet cushion, in addition to a fabric ribbon bow; these fabric articles have been recovered in green velvet/ribbon replicating the appearance of the original covering. The sole of the shoe/underside of the piece is plain and unembellished. Dimensions: Length 13.8cm/5.4" Width 3.5cm/1.4" Height 6.2cm/2.4" Weight 3.7 troy ounces/116g Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this antique silver pin cushion in the form of a shoe. Maker: Adie & Lovekin Ltd Date: 1895 Origin: Birmingham, England Video: A video of this fine piece is available upon request.
