Austrian-Hungarian excellent Biedermeier silver pair of candlesticks. Made 1840-1850 (= during Austrian-Hungarian Biedermeier Period.) year's sign 184. (the last digit quite hard to read.) Hallmarked silver 812.5 (SILVER 13 LOT): Branded by Hungarian Mark of a Tower's Sign (well visible): It is Town Mark of Budapest-Pest (Hungary) enclosed by oval frame which was used during period 1810-1865. Bibliography: Jan Divis, Silber-Stempel aus aller Welt (= Silver Marks All over the World), Germany 1985, page 190 (mark number 1534). - Master's marks existing, too. ________________________________________________________________________________________ Very interesting Austrian-Hungarian silver pair of candlesticks of excellent manufacturing quality as well as of elegant appearance. These candlesticks were made during Biedermeier period. Each of them is based on square foot with scalloped edges (the bases are hollow at reverse side, not filled!) All parts of candlesticks' surface are ornamented with lines bulging the surface in very decorative manner. Finally, the tapering stalk having two areas bulging out is topped by most elegant grommet of square form type. ________________________________________________________________________________________ Measures: Height: 20.0 cm (= 7.87 inches.) Measures of base: 9.5 cm x 9.5 cm (= 3.74 x 3.74 inches.) Total weight: 520 grams ( = 18.34 oz.) Condition: Excellent (there aren't any damages existing.) The spots visible on pictures derive only from flashlight.
