Neoclassical Medallion Sterling Silver Footed Basket, Ball, Black and Co.

Neoclassical, Medallion, sterling silver, ram's leg and hoof footed basket with movable handle, Ball, Black and Co., New York, circa 1870s. Each ram's leg and hoof foot is topped by a very detailed ram's head. Hinged handle has a man's head medallion in its center. Border of the bowl of the basket is designed with separately applied sterling silver beads. This motif is continued around the medallion on the handle. Measures 9 inches high (when handle is in raised position x 9 inches diameter. Bowl of basket itself is 3 3/4 inches high when handle is in lowered position. Weighs 29.975 troy ounces. Dark spots in photos are reflections. Minor scratches on interior (see photos) commensurate with age and use. Otherwise in excellent condition.
