Antique Sterling Silver Decanter / Wine Bottle Labels

About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive, set of three antique George III English sterling silver decanter / wine bottle labels; part of our wine related Georgian silverware collection. These exceptional George III sterling silver wine labels have a rectangular shaped form. Each bottle label is embellished with exceptional gadroon ornamentation to the rim, incorporating four scrolling leaf designs. This decoration incorporates a central rectangular cartouche, each engraved with the desirable inscriptions: 'Madeira', 'Claret', and 'Sauterne'. This elucidating decoration is surmounted with a contemporary engraved crest depicting out of a Ducal coronet five ostrich plumes and a demi-eagle with wings extended. These antique silver bottle labels are suspended by two ring loops to the upper portion and connected by silver round link chains. These exceptional silver wine bottle labels are superior examples of their type. Condition These antique sterling silver wine bottle labels are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The engraved decoration is very sharp. Full British hallmarks struck to the reverse of each piece are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.     A magnificent, fine and impressive antique Georgian English sterling silver wine cooler made by Henry Chawner; an addition to our antique wine and drink related silverware collection This magnificent antique George III sterling silver wine cooler has a circular rounded form onto a shaped circular spreading foot. The surface of the cooler is embellished with exceptional chased floral and scrolling foliate decoration, all on a matte background. The decoration to the body incorporates a large scroll bordered cartouche to either side, each ornamented with a contemporary engraved coat of arms depicting firstly a chevron charged with three lions passant guardant, secondly in chief three cross-crosslet and to the base a lion passant. This antique wine cooler is fitted with an exceptional pair of cast silver handles realistically modelled in the form of an eagle with raised wings, perched on a large scrolling leaf design. This impressive cooler is supported by a cast circular shaped spreading foot embellished with further floral and foliate decoration, accented with a large scrolling border to the rim. This exceptional Georgian wine cooler retains the original, hallmarked detachable liner and push fit cover.     An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George III English sterling silver goblet; an addition to our Georgian wine and drinks related silverware collection This exceptional antique Georgian sterling silver goblet has a plain circular bell shaped form to a circular, knopped pedestal foot. The body of this antique silver goblet is embellished with impressive embossed and chased medallion designs, accented with ribbon bows and conjoined with bud festoons. The upper portion is encircled with an engraved decorated interlacing border. The waisted, knopped pedestal and circular spreading foot are encompassed with applied bead decorated borders. This impressive example of Georgian silverware retains the original gilded interior. Condition This antique 1700s silver goblet is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The embossed and chased decoration is all sharp.
