Art Deco Rectilinear Sterling Silver Matchbox Holder by Black, Starr & Gorham

This elegant Art Deco sterling silver matchbox holder was realized by the esteemed firm Black, Starr & Gorham, circa 1930. It features a volumetric rectangular body with cutout on the side exposing the sandpaper striking areas of the matchbox for convenient use. Exquisitely crafted and perfect in its austere beauty, this piece is the perfect acquisition for those with a penchant for the finest things in every facet of their life. Founded in 1810, Black, Starr & Gorham (formerly Black, Starr and Frost) is the oldest continuously operating jewelry firm in the United States. Its clients have included Carnegies, the Rockefellers, as well as Elizabeth Taylor and Zsa Zsa Gabor. The piece is stamped "Sterling Black Starr & Gorham." Excellent vintage condition.
