About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive unusual antique Victorian English sterling silver biscuit box/container; an addition to our diverse silver box collection This exceptional and large antique sterling silver biscuit box has a plain cylindrical form. The surface of this Victorian biscuit barrel is embellished with a contemporary bright cut engraved crest displaying a coat of arms depicting a sinister hand coupled with a motto below a griffin's head erased. The box is fitted with a plain hallmarked hinged circular cover, surmounted with a central plain oval hallmarked ring loop handle. The unusual hinge features a triangular socket in junction with the body, in addition to a rectangular socket to the posterior surface of the cover. This antique sterling silver biscuit box is fitted with a hinged hallmarked catch secured with a push fit pin connected via a link safety chain. Condition This antique biscuit box/container is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the box, and part hallmarks, as expected struck to the catch, ring handle and interior of the cover are all clear.     An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver goblet; an addition to our collection of wine and drinks related silverware This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver goblet has a circular bell shaped form onto a knopped stem and circular spreading foot. The body of this 1870s silver goblet is embellished with bright cut engraved foliate festoons accented with pensile leaf drops; these vertical designs form four cartouches. The cartouche to one side bears a bright cut engraved fruit design; the further three remain vacant. The knopped stem is encircled with a plain moulded border to the centre. The foot is ornamented with further bright cut engraved overlapping arch designs, accented with an applied bead decorated border to the rim. Condition This antique 1870s silver goblet is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The goblet has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. The bright cut engraved decoration is very crisp and the applied ornamentation is very sharp. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the goblet are all very clear.
