A fine antique Georgian English sterling silver ‘madeira’ decanter label / bottle ticket made in Newcastle; an addition to our wine and drinks silverware collection. This fine antique George III sterling silver decanter label/bottle ticket has a subtly convex, plain rectangular rounded cornered form. The body is embellished with a simple tooled decorated border and the engraved name ‘MADEIRA' to the center. The label is suspended by two ring loops to the upper border connected by a silver belcher style chain. This Fine example of Georgian silverware has been crafted by the Newcastle maker John Robertson II but assayed in London; this was an occasional practice with smaller items of Newcastle silver, where no town mark was been struck. An exceptional, fine and impressive, rare set of five antique Georgian English sterling silver bottle labels or tickets made by Hester Bateman, part of our wine related silverware collection These exceptional and collectable George III sterling silver bottle labels have a neoclassical urn shaped form. These antique silver labels or tickets are further ornamented with a bright cut engraved and pin struck ribbon bow designs accented with suspended leaf festoons. The body of each label is engraved with the individual wine or spirit: 'Port', 'Geneva', 'Claret', 'Rum' and 'Madeira'. These Georgian silver bottle labels are suspended by two ring loops to the corners of the urn designs and connected by silver round link chains. These fine bottle labels, crafted by the renowned female London silversmith Hester Bateman, are an exceptional example of their type. A magnificent, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver serving dish with cover made by Robert Garrard II; an addition to dining silverware collection This magnificent antique Victorian sterling silver dish has a rounded hexagonal form. The body of the serving dish is plain and embellished with a contemporary bright cut engraved crest of on a cap of maintenance turned up a lion passant*. The plain body is encompassed with a cast and applied rosette border to the rim, accented with a leaf decorated corner pieces. The dish is fitted with an impressive domed hexagonal cover, embellished with chased interlacing foliate and trellis designs, all on a matte background to the rounded sides. The upper portion of the domed cover is ornamented with further chased foliate decoration, accented with a paralleling scalloped border. The cover is surmounted with a magnificent cast hallmarkedsterling silver finial realistically modelled in the form of the aforementioned crest; a cap of maintenance turned up a lion passant. These exceptional George III sterling silver wine labels have a rectangular shaped form. Each bottle label is embellished with exceptional gadroon ornamentation to the rim, incorporating four scrolling leaf designs. This decoration incorporates a central rectangular cartouche, each engraved with the desirable inscriptions: 'Madeira', 'Claret', and 'Sauterne'. This elucidating decoration is surmounted with a contemporary engraved crest depicting out of a Ducal coronet five ostrich plumes and a demi-eagle with wings extended. A magnificent, fine and impressive antique William IV English sterling silver wine cooler made by William Bateman II; an addition to our antique wine and drink related silverware collection This magnificent antique William IV sterling silver wine cooler has a circular campania shaped form onto a circular spreading foot. The surface of the cooler is embellished with exceptional cast and applied fruiting vine ornamentation, accented with grape clusters and three-dimensional leaf designs. The body is further ornamented with large acanthus leaf designs, encompassing the underside of the bulbous portion. This antique wine cooler is fitted with an exceptional pair of cast silver handles realistically modelled in the form of interlacing vines; this is a continuation of the fruiting vine decoration to the body. This exceptional William Bateman wine cooler retains the original, hallmarked detachable liner and push fit cover. The sterling silver torus-shaped cover is ornamented with an applied moulded border to the rim. The surface of the lining is plain and embellished with a contemporary engraved crest of an eagle displayed supporting in the dexter claw a staff erect, thereon hoisted a pennon forked and flowing to the sinister with the lettering 'Per sinum Codanum' - Through the Gulf of Cadonus*. This magnificent cooler was crafted by the renowned and collectable London silversmith William Bateman II. Such wine coolers of this design are becoming increasingly difficult to locate. * This heraldic marking pertains to the Graves-Sawle family, with the motto representing Graves. Condition This antique silver William Bateman wine cooler is a superior gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The cast and applied decoration is very sharp and the engraved crest is very crisp. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the body are clear in keeping with age and location. The part hallmarks to liner and cover are all very clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique barware...
