An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George V English sterling silver and glass matchstriker; an addition to our ornamental collection. This exceptional antique George V sterling silver and glass matchstriker has a globular form to a circular shaped well. The surface of the glass body is embellished with a serrated texture which composes a match striker. The glass body surmounts an impressive circular shaped dished well, featuring with a raised rounded border with paralleling applied moulded decoration to the rim. This exceptional example of antique silverware is fitted with an oakwood insert to the underside of the base; this insert indicates the high quality of the piece. The underside of the well bears the retailer's mark 'Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company, 112 Regent Street W', in addition to the full hallmarks. This fine pair of antique George V glass scent bottles has a circular rounded form. Each bottle is fitted with a plain hallmarked sterling silver mount with a hinged hallmarked cover. The covers feature fine and impressive hot enamel panels depicting very similar (but not identical) lakeside scenes with a mountain backdrop. The cover of each opens to reveal the original glass stopper and gilt interior. The glass bodies of the scent bottles are embellished with fine quality cut glass decoration in a geometric design with a band of egg and tongue style ornamentation to the shoulders. An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian glass and silver mounted claret jug; part of our silver mounted glass collection. This exceptional antique Victorian glass and sterling silver and glass claret jug has a circular rounded form onto a circular spreading foot. The upper portion of the glass body is fitted with the original hallmarked sterling silver mount embellished with an incurved shaped border. The plain domed hallmarked hinged cover is encircled with a band of applied bead decoration and surmounted with an impressive swept, knopped bead decorated finial. This Victorian claret jug is fitted with an S-scroll handle featuring a plain scrolling thumb piece. The glass body of the jug is embellished with an exceptional acid etched illustration depicting a putto entangled with flowing ribbons, playing a stylized percussion triangle whilst standing on the back of a moth style insect. In art and culture, a putto (plural: putti) is a chubby male child, usually nude and occasionally bearing wings. Condition The mount of this antique silver and glass claret jug is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The mount has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. The plain glass body of the jug is in perfect condition.
