Antique New York Sterling Silver Tall and Stylish Horse Compote

About
Tall and stylish avant-garde sterling silver horse compote, circa 1870. Round bowl with beaded rim on short support mounted to globe with pendant cone. Tripod support with stylized hoof-and-scroll feet mounted to trefoil foot with stylized ornamental rim. Spare geometry embellished with 3 cast horse heads alternating with 3 loose mounted rings threaded with chains. On underside stamped “925/1000” in heraldic shield, which is a mark associated with New York retailer Ball, Black, & Co., who were active from circa 1852-1874. Weight: 25 troy ounces.
