US$8,083.92

About

An exceptional, fine and impressive, rare pair of antique George III Newcastle sterling silver chambersticks, an addition to our range of collectable Georgian silverware. These exceptional and rare George III Newcastle sterling silver chambersticks (chamber candlesticks) have a plain circular form. The upper portion of the plain bell shaped capital is embellished with a band of thread decoration. The wax pan of each chamberstick is plain and unembellished. Each chamber candlestick retains the original detachable hallmarked sconce and the original detachable hallmarked snuffer. The snuffers have a conical form and are surmounted by simple ball style finials. The rims of the wax pans, snuffers and sconces are encompassed with further applied thread decorated borders. Each antique silver chamberstick is fitted with a shaped ribbed handle featuring a plain receiver socket for the snuffer. These exceptional Georgian silver chambersticks, crafted by the renowned Newcastle silversmith John Langlands I, are rare examples to locate. Condition These antique Georgian silver chambersticks are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. Full hallmarks struck to the capital of each candlestick and part hallmarks to the sleeve of the sconces and the surface of the snuffers are all very clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these pieces of antique Georgian silverware.
