Set of ten Lebanese silver plate cups and saucers by Habis,
Lebanese, 20th century
Cup: Height 5cm, width 7.5cm, depth 5cm
Saucer: Height 1cm, diameter 8.5cm
This beautiful set of ten coffee cups and saucers represent the modern elegant style of Lebanese silversmith firm Habis. They have simple cylindrical profile bodies, engraved detailing and unusual rope twist handles. The saucers are conformingly decorated, with an engraved pattern running around the rim.
Habis was the first silversmith founded in Lebanon. The firm was established at the request of the country's first president Bechara El Khoury's request, after they won independence in 1943.
