Pair of Geo III Sheffield Telescopic Candlesticks, circa 1815, by T&J Creswick

About the Item

A pair of Geo III antique Sheffield plate telescopic candlesticks by the important maker Thomas & James Creswick who comes from the famous family of long time silversmiths. His Grandfather was one of the first silversmiths to register his mark at the Sheffield Assay office in 1773. The father and son, Thomas & James, registered their Sheffield plate cross keys mark in 1811. These candlesticks have the mark inside the candle sockets. They exhibited their work at the Great Exhibition in 1851 and they have pieces displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Height is variable from 8.25"-11".
