Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Fruit Serving Set

About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver fruit serving set, boxed, an addition to our dining silverware collection. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver fruit serving set consists of a pair of fruit serving / berry spoons and a pair of grape shears. Each piece has exceptional scrolling leaf decorated handles, accented with paralleling incurved borders, in addition to bright cut engraved geometric detailing. The posterior surface of each piece is plain and unembellished. The serving/berry spoons have elongated, rounded bowls embellished with exceptional chased floral and scrilling leaf ornamentation amidst bead borders; the outer rim of each spoon has a crimped finish. The interior of each silver spoon bowl retains the original gilding. The fine pair of antique Victorian sterling silver grape shears has a hinged scissor action. The handles of the grape scissors reflect the identical ornamentation of that to the spoons, in addition to bright cut engraved rounded fingerpieces. The circular hinged portion is embellished with a floral rosette design. The hallmarked, rounded blades of these fine grape shears are plain and unembellished. This antique sterling silver scissor and spoon set is fitted to the original hinged leatherette box with satin and velvet lined interior, securing with a push fit catch. The interior of the box bears the retailer's mark 'By Appointment, Elikington & Co', beneath the Royal coronet. Condition This antique silver fruit serving set is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition. The bright cut engraved decoration is very crisp and the chased is very sharp. Full hallmarks struck to the reverse surface of each spoon, in addition to part hallmarks to the scissors blade are all very clear.     A fine and impressive pair of antique Victorian English sterling silver sparrow beak style creamers, boxed; an addition to our silver teaware collection. These impressive antique Victorian sterling silver cream jugs have a plain baluster sparrow beak style form onto a circular spreading foot. The body of each jug is embellished to one side with two impressive bright cut engraved crests, a stag's head erased and a thistle erect, leaved below the motto ‘Yvery’. The jugs are fitted with opposing scroll handles, each ornamented with a subtle plain thumb piece. These impressive antique cream jugs have sparrow beak style spouts. These cream jugs are fitted to the original hinged leatherette box with satin and velvet lined interior and push fit catch.
